DESCRIPTION:
The Summit, a premier initiative developed to address the shortage of Hispanics in senior executive and management positions in the federal government, will focus on offering management insights, skills training and other career advancement training to assist government employees maximize their potential. Open to all federal employees, the summit will be provided at no cost to the participants. The registration process will open on 1 August 2008 and will be available to first 600 participants. Vision
To offer a forum where federal employees can develop individual leadership competencies to advance their careers.
Goal
To gather Hispanic leaders, aspiring future leaders and all who support issues affecting the Hispanic community, from the federal government to ensure development of educational tools that will provide true equal employment opportunity and diversity in the federal workplace.
Objectives
- Promote equal employment opportunity and diversity, and the enforcement of Executive Order 13171, Hispanic Employment in the Federal Government.
- Develop and enhance partnerships and cooperation among federal, public and affinity groups working toward the goal of addressing the under representation of Hispanics in senior positions in the federal government.
- Promote feedback from summit participants regarding emerging needs and trends, and establish a formal, ongoing process to educate the federal Hispanic community on such issues.
- Gather and disseminate information concerning best practices in the Federal government and the private sector in enhancing diversity at all levels of the organization.
- Share information regarding tools to assess overall agency progress in achieving a diverse workforce.
